How to set it up

  1. 1

Write one simple kindness challenge on a card, like "Make a card for Grandma" or "Help clear the table without being asked."

  2. 2

Sign it with your elf’s name and a little star.

  3. 3

Prop the card against your elf somewhere it’ll be found at breakfast.

  4. 4

Tonight, have the elf leave a quick "I saw that! Great job" note.

Too tired? 30-second version

Write "Be kind today" on a sticky note and stick it to your elf.

Kindness nights are some of the easiest and most meaningful in the whole season. They take two minutes, make no mess, and give kids something to do with all that elf excitement.

Ideas for the card:

  • Give someone a compliment at school.
  • Share a toy with a sibling without being asked.
  • Draw a picture for a neighbor.
  • Help set the table for dinner.

Tip: in the last week before Christmas, a kindness idea is a lovely way to wind the season toward giving.
